The Knox on Sloane Square operates in the register that London's better late-night venues have refined: a space that begins as a restaurant or bar and transitions, over the course of an evening, into something with a dancefloor and intent. The transition is the point — it allows an evening to move through gears rather than committing to a single mode, which suits a group that wants both conversation and movement. The format is designed for introductions: tables arranged for meeting people, the early part of the evening structured loosely enough that conversation circulates. DJ Swerve takes over as the evening progresses, and the floor that emerged from a dinner table is already warmed up in a way that a standing club never quite achieves from a cold start. Sloane Square in April — the neighbourhood at its most confident, the King's Road crowd in their considered spring wardrobes — provides the backdrop. The Knox provides the room.
